Harewood is launching their very first Home Education programme this Spring!

We’re launching with two exciting taster sessions for children aged 6 – 14 years old, based in and around our spectacular House, Grounds and Gardens.

The sessions will be led by experienced educators and aim to provide a practical and fun learning experience – that doesn’t feel like learning at all!

Harewood at War

Tuesday 1 April

Discover the history of Harewood House during wartime by exploring what life was like for a recovering officer and the challenges of rationing!

Guided by the Learning Team, children will take a tour of Harewood House to learn about the House as a convalescence hospital and will have a go at bandaging like a real VAD nurse!

They will also learn about rationing during WWII by making their own ration recipe.

Printing and Nature

Tuesday 22 April

Create your own printed image inspired by Harewood’s colourful collection of plants and trees from around the globe!

Guided by the Learning Team, children will be taken to hidden areas of our gardens to find plants with interesting shapes and textures.

They will take ideas from what they have seen to draw a design before carefully printing it onto coloured paper.
