Join artist Luke Thompson at Harewood for this two day course, exploring all things Turner.

Over the course of the weekend, participants will sketch and study on the location where Turner worked and painted.

On Saturday, we will learn how to record and sketch ideas of the landscape ‘en plein air’, working in charcoal and paint to record information out in the open which will then inform a studio painting.

Here we will look at design and composition, and how to take inspiration from the natural environment.

On Sunday, we will work from these sketches and references to create our final painting, taking inspiration from Turner’s work. Here we will go in depth into colour mixing and paint application using oils.

A lunch will be provided on both days as well as self-pour refreshments.

Harewood has a number of supplies available but it is essential you bring your own canvas
