With its productive kitchen garden of fruit, vegetables and herbs, orchard, flower borders and wildflower meadow, Harewood’s historic Walled Garden, on the southern shore of Lancelot "Capability" Brown’s majestic lake, is even more than meets the eye.

Originally built in stages from the 1750s, the Walled Garden reached its horticultural heyday in the 1890s. After lying dormant for decades, the original kitchen garden of 2 ½ acres was revived in the 1990s by Harewood House Trust and brought back into full production.

Today it remains the oldest garden under cultivation at Harewood and predates the building of the House.
