This armchair (part of a set of 18) was originally designed by Chippendale for the State Bedroom and State Dressing Room, upholstered in green damask.
At £10 it was the most expensive style of chair made for the House.
The State Bedroom suite was reupholstered by George Trollope & Sons in Beauvais tapestry in the Victorian period.
In 2000 part of the suite was restored back to its original colour scheme.
