Metamorphic library steps

These steps are designed to fold down into a stool when not in use.

Its case is decorated with marquetry, a thin layer of wood applied to the surface to form patterns and pictures. The decorative pattern is designed to match the design of the Old Library’s Robert Adam ceiling.

A grand long Gallery displaying an array of paintings by masters of the Italian Renaissance. Thomas Chippendale gilded mirrors cover one wall, reflecting sunlight towards the paintins. Golden lamps light up the Robert Adam ceilings which are decorated with scenes of greek mythology.

Sino-Himalayan Plants

Harewood is renowned for its beautiful gardens and inspiring planting schemes. The Himalayan Garden contains many rare and unusual plants, many of which were introduced by intrepid plant explorers, and include Blue Poppies, Cobra Lilies, Primulas and Orchids.
